[Succession Game] We Pass Civ

372 posts in this topic

Good thing we have the traits for a cottage economy... oh wait. ;)

Our starting area is pretty bad for a specialist economy unfortunately. Not many bonus food sources and very little good riverland until you get to the west (or southwest where all the jungle is located).

BTW, since I realized my disastrous mistakes in BURKe's Law PBEM I've gotten a little better at specialist economies (actually reading up on how to work them well and trying it out in an SP game). ;) I don't know if working the SE would be successful in a succession game though since you have to be very dedicated to keeping it going, whereas a cottage economy is easier to maintain (at least in my view since I'm a longtime CE proponent).

Here is a pulled back view of the world so far with resource icons on so you can see the locations of the copper, ivory, horses, etc.

Interesting choice of resources to highlight in text...... ;)

Just helping out the warmongers in the crowd. You don't think I would want the copper or the horses or the ivory for anything would you? I'm a builder. Just look at the name of the city I founded. :D

I would take it...if I remember how to upload the save. So, I don't.

I hope not against the rules to say how I would try:

Send the settler SW to the river,corn,dyes,spice site; build another one to the pig,rice,horses; pray for iron, if not research archery;

FOOD. And prepare to blame the warmongers if we get surronded, sufocated and defeated.

Completely agreed with every idea. But I won't be taking the save again until everyone else has had a chance so go for it. :D

In the great year 1200BC Lord Lezapper rose to power on a political platform of expansion and knowledge. Or as it was more commonly referred to back then, TAKE ALL THE LANDS!

Turn 70 1200BC Lord Lezapper dutifully continued the path of Iron Working and considered sending the settlers south to take valuable resources in the jungle.

Turn 72 1120BC Leaving the capital the settlers turned around and fled back home, THREE barbarian archers at the outskirts of WPC and 1 near Builderopolis, my Lord! It's an INVASION!!! This may be the shortest succession ever, mumbled Lezap. Yet there is still hope, our metalworkers have found metal between Buildy and WPC, the Settlers must GO WEEEEEST!! We can not seize lands without the ability to defend them! Also in the glorious year 1120BC, Lezapper wants his glory told to future generations, our thinkers discover writing, unfortunately they will require 5-6 turns figuring out reading.

Turn ?? 975-725BC Cyrus finds some ancient sheepherders which convince him that there is only one God and subsequently he converts to Judaism, taking the rest of the Persian empire with him. Oy veh! Otherwise, Barbarians continue to flood into India. Brave warriors perish as they sacrifice themselves to deplete the enemy of arrows, letting the reserves club them to a bloodstained death. Fast Indian workers quickly build an Iron Mine and roads near the new city named after our glorious leader Lezapper, Ironman. Barbarian axemen show up, but are defeated by the frothing Swordswinging madman known only by his warcry, GRARAARRRGHH!!! He is joined by an axeman known as Barak. In the west the Buildys train another Swordswinger, known as Gilette the Sharp.

-Turn 95 500BC Glorious Lezapper oversees the spread of the Indian people south into the jungles. They are hostile lands, full of insects, snakes and barbarians. But Lezapper will be remembered as a great warrior-chief. Under his leadership the barbarians were pushed back, and the Indian army counted at his death, 3 axes and 2 swords and 4 cities. Unfortunately, Lezapper was an absolute **** when it came to the economy and his successor would find India's coffers empty, with high maintenance costs for the colonies. Yet Lezapper claimed "they'll pay for themselves soon enough, get to chopping!" In Science, Lezapper ordered the knowledge of Mathematics to be researched in order to begin a massive forest-chopping plan to improve Indian infrastructure and worker numbers in the north. Yet, no man may live forever and Lezap only lived to the age of 700. The Indians mourn his passing.

Copy the link (in Firefox, right-click and select "Copy Link Location" and then put that between IMG tags. E.g. here's one of your shots:

attachment.php?attachmentid=10970&d=1321378326

You can get the link before actually posting by previewing your post with those in-line tags inserted.

A hint, this only works for images that end in .jpg

Any other extension will not show in fullsize...

no worries, got it to work, now, who are we waiting for?

Well, doesn't look like anyone's claimed the save yet, so anyone still bolded in the first post.

Though, considering that the site appears to be unstable, it may be a good thing no one's tagged in. Until WPC is back to 100%, it may be best to hold off.

Certainly, don't play unless the site is up so you can:

A) Make sure no one else has yet posted claiming the save

B) Make your own post claiming the save

I don't think we can upload anything right now, anyway. That's been broke for a day, surely part of a bigger problem having to do with the stability issue and the time issue, too.

Link to post

Ah, right, forgot that upload is broken too. Let's call an official halt to the game then. Please pause the game while WPC is fixed.
