I believe Beta wanted to play, and Viking too. I'll PM them and see.

Viking doesn't have time. Let's see if Beta is still interested.

Just for clarity the moment we have decided upon the number of players if will probably take about a month to sort everything out (especially since it is holiday season)

You should start working on the map now. Once you get the number of players you can add in starting spots.

Pick a start date for sometime in August?

Maybe Early September would be better what with the Schools closing till then making it difficult for peeps like me with little peeps who may want to go to the seaside now and again In August ;)

Early September is great, keeping all the big and little peeps happy. :b:

September works for me as well.

That's fine. What's the final word on the mod components we want for this?

I personally liked the expanded diplo package that was talked about awhile back.

I'm easy. As this will be the only diplo game I play, then anything that enriches the experience would be a bonus.

I'm still keen to participate if numbers aren't an issue. :)

I started working on the map. It will be for 10 players (as we dropped Byzantium).

Things are going smoothly so far.

I also added all island names, region names and further landmarks for additional 'greecy' feeling.

Geography will be a big thing on this map:

there is for instance a pass of Thermopylae..

Rhoth was keeping track of the players. I thought we were full, then again, mebbe not. Also, diplo games are notorious for players getting burnt out or being unavailable and permanent subs being needed. But that works well in the story line: a simple revolution, off with the old king's head, and voila, you have a new ruler in place. :)

Another update:

here are the civs in "Gods and Heroes' as I called the map and mod.

As you can see I reduced the Greek style civs a bit more, for game play reasons.

If we need an extra civ we can put in Rhodos, but that would need to be a civ for a veteran player.

I also prepared the special resources we use in 'Destruction of Foes' for use in "Gods and Heroes".

These are barley, peas, coton and olives.

I hope you agree to this Ozzy and DNK?

If you agree to this then I can start spreading the resources.

This will be done in such a manner that trade is stimulated:

there will be southern, northern, western and eastern resources.

One other thing:

I have made three islands the home of Pirates (historically correct by the way),

so settlers and galleys are under danger..

Anybody up for taking Rhodos?

How much expansion room would they have Calanthian? I presume their first settlements would be islands, or competing with Milete for coastal cities.

(edit) Looking at your earlier map, it would seem that adding Rhodos (Rhodes) would really be squeezing both Crete and Milete, to say nothing of Rhodos itself.

Sorry to be questioning things at this time. More curiosity than anything. Will dropping Byzantium give an advantage (ie expansion room) to Troy?
