We shouldn't need much to submit Deirdre. Perhaps taking one base and killing the last defender in another; it all depends on their relative force at the time. Perhaps they will gladly surrender to us to avoid Lal's wrath.

The real question is: how many Gaian bases will be left when sunspot activity ends? 15 (or so) turns are a long time...

Sunspots started in 2204, it was already 9 turns.

11 turns remaining then? We'll be more than ready. We can already demand a truce with Zak after having taken 3 bases.

We have 3 vendettas and 3 treaties, but those in treaties are seething towards us. I think we should take into consideration, we soon can end up in even more vendettas.

In this case, eliminating enemies and getting pactmates (even if forced to submission) could be a priority. We were talking about Gaians.

I wonder how much can we count on Spartan support.

Maybe we could consider social policies change to get Santiago friendship? Or maybe we should force her to depend on us... ?

We might could get attitude improvements in some cases by asking allies to end vendettas? Will they do that while seething?

In like 10 turns sunspots end, then, I guess, some things happen, that otherwise would spread over 20 years period.

UNIVERSITY:

When sunspot ends, we shall be assured to get instant truce offer by Zakharov: we have taken 3 bases and we have now planes in position for deep strikes which should cost him many units. Now, do you want us to accept the truce or do we push the advantage until we pact-submit him? It doesn't take much usually with Zak but I need to know now so as to prepare invasion units.

GAIANS:

Deirdre didn't commit any action against us and has her back to the wall with the Peacekeepers. I suggest that we offer a truce but won't act if she refuses: she's more busy with Lal and, if we weaken her, he could overthrow her and start to think about...us!

All the others are in many vendettas and wouldn't be a clear and present danger if taken one by one. In a few turns, we shall have prototyped silksteel armor and fusion laser. The massive building effort underway also ensures that a few bases will be ready to churn out units or missiles every 1-2 turns if necessary.

Other question: do we start a planet buster?

my vote goes to all the way to submitting Zakharov.

However, after the conflict, to strengthen our commerce, I would return some of the taken bases to Zakharov.

GAIANS:

I would try to submitt Deirdre too. If Lal tries to attack us, he is still in vendetta with Yang and Santiago too. We could use it. Spartans appear to be economically weakened by too large military production drawing resources. Maybe we could provide military aid (units) to Santiago, maybe even secure in this way a pact with her. We could go to values: power. Just to form another economic alliance that would also offset losses from not running wealth. our military would benefit from power values too.

What policy do we have now concerning other factions? Moderate peace? Forcing into economic-submission everywhere possible?

Other question: do we start a planet buster?

I vote yes - at least one.

As a dom or as a sub, Buncle?

OK: instructions received! I'll focus the rushes on our 4 eastern bases, and Morgan Transport will make the planet buster.

2214-end

Rushes executed:

- Aerospace Complex in Marine Institute for 124EC

- Hybrid Forest in Morgan Solarfex for 264EC

- Genejack Factory in Morgan Transport for 60EC

- Network Node in Morgan Pharmaceuticals for 82EC

- Biology Lab in Morgan Gravitonics for 28EC

2215-start

- an F8 kills a University copter attacking seaformer near Marine Institute :b:

- a University rotor kills our damaged F8

- another F8 protects the seaformer and kills the rotor :b:

- 1 kelp expansion

- Prometheus virus outbreak at Lili of the Valley (Peacekeepers)

- MASSIVE eruption of native life as Morgan Transport completes genejack factory. We'll play it defensive: the Neural Amplifier will give us the advantage.

Battle plans:

- 3 available planes will empty Zarya-Sunrise of defenders, thus effectively terminating production of copter

- copter near Marine institute will die

2216-start

- we lost 1 F8 to native life

- Is sunspot activity already over?!? Is my version of this game just F***ed up? People come to...talk:

:scared:

- Gaians repeat that they are in vendetta.

- Hive wants us to declare war to Peacekeepers and declares vendetta when I refuse.

- road, borehole and forest destroyed at Morgan Gravitonics

- F8 destroyed by Hive fusion tactical

- our Comanche kills a Hive fusion tactical

- a University chaos copter kills a Gaian sea colony pod

- an F8 kills a University chaos copter

- an F8 kills a University chaos rotor

- a University chaos rotor kills an A8

- the Hive has signed a Treaty with the Believers

Mart, your opinion? Course of action?

- We are too short to submit Zakharov with the Hive on our back, at least for now. Do we keep on fighting or do we ask for a truce with him to manage the Hive? The Hive has a majority of penetrators and only 2 interceptors. We can keep them at bay by churning out F8s and using money to turning them to clean F10s; with one or 2 missiles to empty seabases and taking them by Nwabudikes, we can stop Yang relatively soon. (but we have nothing able to stop a missile: it can kill a cruiser like we crush a fly!)

- I have started the Cloning Vats to switch later to Power and secure the Spartan alliance but we won't get it until several turns (with the help of Morgan Solarfex)

- do we send the cruiser probe extract Organic Superlubricant from the Hive, thus giving us a new tech next turn?

It's usually not worthwile to build front class troops with clean reactors. Their life expectancy is too low. Organic super lubricant gives fusion lasers, iirc. If so, go for it.

Yes, I support Civac's proposal.

We could stop vendetta with Zak and take care of the Hive. We can then take Yang's sea bases, similarly as Zakharov's. Which I'm in favor - we build "sea safety zone" for our land bases. Sea bases can serve for both navy and air forces. Yan'g power is much due to sea - he spreads a bit too well.

Probing for tech - yes!!! let's have one more tech. As our power graph is the largest we no longer need to pretend a weak faction.

Ok, Mart: I let you dictate the terms to Zakharov before I move our units.

I shall then extract Biomachinery.

As for clean units, I'll see how much it cost to enhance a 'placeholder' F8 or A8 to a clean 10. We want to produce 1/turn in some bases without depleting production rate. Money, we have plenty.

I tried more diplomatic intelligence:

- We can ask Spartans to end vendetta with Peacekeepers, but Santiago will not advance our agreement to Pact (my vote: undecided, we could wait for going Power)

- Zakharov is eager to end vendetta and we can get Treaty immediately after that. (my vote: yes)

- We can end vendetta with Miriam, but she wants 250 EC for this. (my vote: rather not... but being sure, she does not cause problems during our Hive conflict might be useful)

I would accept. That would prevent Lal or Santiago to come and ask us to attack the other, provoking vendetta just as with Yang. Once we have Power, we'll talk again.

Yes! That was a splendid little war. :D

- We can end vendetta with Miriam, but she wants 250 EC for this. (my vote: rather not... but being sure, she does not cause problems during our Hive conflict might be useful)
Not sure. We never saw any Believer unit since the beginning of this game. But if they are at war with friends of us (it seems this include only Santiago), better to end this vendetta too. Try to make her end her war with the Spartans if you can!

Maybe lets infiltrate Believers.

I'll prepare mid-save with our diplomacy...

And mid save attached:

---

Miriam proposed to sign truce for transfering 250 EC to her energy banks. She did not want to agree for 120 EC. She refused treaty, but agreed to end vendetta with Spartans.

Santiago agreed to end vendetta with Peacekeepers. No luck in talking her into pact.

Zakharov proposed truce and right after that to sign treaty. We have +118 EC/turn of commerce.
