2201-start

This decade, we shall:

- have 10 interceptors in our Air Force. Enough to respond to any single threat

- keep on improving defence in coastal cities

- see Morgan Industries multiply its economy (Longevity Vaccine) and labs (Supercollider) by 50% each

- start building a navy

- try to reach 300 EC/turn and 5 turn/tech

- focus spending on hybrid forests and recent bases

We have 2 places ready to welcome colony pods but I am not keen to found new cities at this time. Your opinion?

I'm not sure at this time, what would be the case for not building 2 new bases?

- bureaucracy drones - I would not be concerned much about it. We will offset this somehow...

- being most powerful faction on planet - we might wait indeed, and the only time to postpone our further growth here I would see getting Orbital Spaceflight and then soon after a planet buster or preferably several of them.

We could do the trick with multiple buster prototypes, but maybe we would not like to take the advantage over AI...

There is the fear of more bureaucracy drones but mainly it's because new bases take much time to develop and defend and can be seen as a liability.

That said, these 2 bases will be the last ones since our territory is now well covered. If you gives the green light, they will be founded during this decade.

As the one in charge of diplomacy, I shall let you appreciate the need (or not) of a planet buster. I don't exactly know how the AIs react to it. Are they afraid to attack you, deterred or does it raise their agressivity?

Link to post

I think it's a deterrent, there is a common understanding of game mechanics like that.

In that case we should get it. Factions like Hive would not be afraid of using theirs planet busters, what I noticed from other games.

Ok, I'll see in which mineral-rich base I'll put our Skunkworks then. Probably Morgan Shipbuilding after our first cruiser; we must get Orbital Spaceflight first.

And, by the way, I didn't put a frowning smiley in the title, it went there 'automatically'. (Bad omen?)

And how about a coastal tile 36,54 - north of cliffs on our eastern shore?

A base over there would have a sea nutrient in radius.

Link to post

36,54 could be a good place. I just need some former time to prepare terraforming. I wondered: should we raise land from 36,54, thus getting 3 land tiles more, or let it a coastal base?

2202-start

- Zakharov called (noncommital). He proposes a Pact of Brotherhood to crush the Spartans, I refused. We exchanged Neural Grafting for Field Modulation, then Bio-engineering for Bioadaptive Resonance. He became Cooperative, then talked about his new chaos fusion copters, then asked Doctrine Air Power (that's what he wanted since the beginning) as a favor. I said No, hoping to trade it for a Treaty and he just...declared Vendetta! "Your open and shameless pursuit of Wealth is no longer acceptable, CEO Morgan. Vendetta upon you!" What the Hell?!?

- 1 forest expansion

- we have built the Longevity Vaccine

- we have got Applied Relativity and chosen Orbital Spaceflight as next tech

- we are now #1 in technology

- Lal has started the construction of a Planet Buster:scared:

Concerning: University Vendetta

No worry! He hasn't doctrine Air Power. In a few turns, we'll take his 2 seabases. If it's not enough to get a truce, we can drop paratroopers to take his nearest land base. His police guards will be no match for our interceptors.

How about bombers (needlejets)? Tacticals/interceptors have -50% for land strikes.

We could build several.

8-1-10*2, deep radar, is what I would propose.

------

I'm not sure about raising land. We haven't discussed this yet.

Santiago would be willing to talk.

My probing showed, that we have no chance to sign a pact.

We could however direct Spartan attack efforts to a selected University base. Initially they would propose Hydrothermal Institute, but this is near our territory on uranium flats, so I would prefer them attacking somewhere on University Continent.

The question is - do we want to talk with Spartans about it?

Link to post

We won't use F8 against AAA-units but they are more than able to do the job against poor police guards. I'll see for A8s after we christen the first ship in Class Nwabudike.

Spartans.

It doesn't seem like we need Spartans in this affair. Taking 1,2 or 3 University bases without sweat should be enough to get a truce with Zak. It would be bad that Santiago takes a base and Zak's probes extract Air Power.

Let's not forget that the Spartans hate us because of Wealth too!

That said, if we can get any other advantage from Santiago, I let you judge.

Link to post

It seems we cannot get anything else. It is already a lot, that Santiago wanted to talk after decades.

Link to post

It's perhaps better to keep the relationship ready for another time then.

Neither we nor the Spartans have anything to gain and they are already in vendetta against Zak; I'm sure Santiago will take opportunity if Zak get weakened by us and by Yang.

Yes, 24,62 is good to be raised. :)

Zakharov may have no Air Power, but he builds Chaos Rotors and drop infantry.

I do not recall though AI performing well planned chop'n'drop... but who knows?

If I'm not mistaken, he can't drop around bases with aerospace complexes, so no fear with that.

Usually, the AI doesn't chop bases and wherever he would send a chopper, he won't see it back anyway.

We shall closely monitor his units disposition.

How about naming the sea on our western coast, somewhere SW from Morgan Interstellar:

Fungal Sea

or maybe someone has a better name for these waters?

Eventually we probably cover it with kelp farms, but till then, its very dense sea fungus place.

2204-start

- SUNSPOT ACTIVITY!!! That means that we won't be able to get a truce from Zakharov during the next 20 years. No need to rush the war efforts then.

- Morgan Industries: golden age

- Morgan Bank: golden age

- I put a special effort on biology labs these days (even in Morgan Shipbuilding) because we are heavily reliant on forests and don't want to get their killing virus.

Battle plans:

- we can still take hydrothermal institute this turn (and probably destroy the base during its taking)

- I propose to send our first Nwabudike to the monolith while Zak's choppers are still unfinished and to take Marine biology Lab next turn.

- What to do with it then? Keep it and fortify it? (seabases are vulnerable to the AI and it would consume a ton of money to upgrade it) Starve it to death and erase it by making colony pods to grow other bases?

I may have limited internet access today...

As for the sea bases - we will have to go probably for having some of them. Despite possibility to grow vertically, horizontal growth over the ocean can give us many benefits. We seem to be able to sustain large military recently. Our economy can still grow too, I believe.
