2191-start

- 2 forest tiles by expansion

- WARNING: we have a Peacekeeper cruiser probe next to Morgan Shipbuilding. The base is protected by a probe. Do we 1) do nothing or 2) destroy it with a plane or 3) interrogate them and send them home? After all, they may be only travelling to Hive territory.

Strategy for this decade:

- we'll get the Cyborg factory and the Maritime Control Center next turn

- we'll get the Ascetic Virtues in a maximum of 5 turns, allowing a new phase of population growth

- we are now building fusion labs

- Morgan Industries has its energy park almost ready, is now going strong with research and ECs

- Coastal bases will begin to build synth-fungi-seaformers and terraform kelp+tidal to get the most of our growth

- coastal bases will also keep on improving their defence

Thoughts? Suggestions? Orders?

Since the forum changed, there are more and more problems.

It ate my post even though I copied it...

So in short:

2191-pre-end

We have extracted Planetary Economics from Gaian, are pursuing Advanced Subatomic Theory.

Rushes proposed:

Morgan Construction 10Ec

Morgan Industries 152EC

Morgan Biochemical 3EC

The PK probe cruiser is gone. Interrogated?

Yes. Interrogated and rapatriated.

And the F8 destroyed a Gaian mine.

How do we go about our war policy?

We were talking before about avoiding aggressive strategy, instead we try to win economically.

Do we avoid taking over opponents' bases only or we play even more peacefully?

Cornering global energy market is about 5200 EC.

We don't really need to take over enemy bases these days:

- Believers are nowhere near and have other powerful enemies

- Gaians are being taken over by the Peacekeepers.

Conquering bases would give us more problems than advantages. Our position is strong for now.

Lal is close to completing Hunter-Seeker Alg. SP. And there is a crawler to be added, I think he will have HSA in 2 turns.

Zakharov may be finally successful in taking back Baikonur.

Lal keeps marching towards next Gaian base. I predict, he may eventually conquer them all. I wonder if we have a chance to make a pact with Deirdre with her being submissive in case Lal stops his vendetta. That would be some operation to pull out.

As for diplomacy, nothing new, only Lal wanted to talk and nothing could be exchanged.

Ok! Tell me if you need some troops to submit Lady deirdre!

Either a cruiser transport and 2 marines or perhaps some paratroopers? Or do we work with cruiser probes and mindrobing bases?

At this point, I'm thinking more about our faction policy (role-playing element). How much pacifists we are? How much we allow our military for aggressive actions? How much we allow our probe actions to go?

Link to post

We are not really pacifists but the less military units we build the faster we shall reach the economic victory.

I am fine with playing isolationnists and only having some interceptors for self-defense (and attack on soft and not-so-soft targets).

(Off-topic question to anglophones: why is it that one can write "defense" or "defence"? Any reason, difference,...?)

(not anglophone, but it's probably US vs UK spelling, like center vs centre)

are you asking to try to find out who is still keeping track of this specific democracy game?

We can use AA for a tech, though Gaians have still Pre-sentient Algorithms, that could be probed from Virgin Soil (?) next turn. But, iirc the base was already probed, so there is a chance of failure.

The idea is that we first probe the tech, so later we get something else from AA that Pre-sentient Algorithms.

Do you think Hive donates units to Gaians? like these 2 SAM rovers on a foil transport, that were spoted by our needlejets?

Ok, we'll steal the tech in Virgin Soil. Our probe is elite, it may escape.

Concerning the Hive units, they won't change much: they aren't fusion. But let's keep an eye on them!

Lal appears to be very successful in his conquering Gaians. If they do not sign truce soon, Deirdre may find herself eliminated. Help from Hive can be significant if they start to supply Deirdre with troops. Both Hive and PK recently rose to two most powerful factions on planet. I believe we are third.

In case Lal takes all Gaian bases, he may be more threatening to us than Yang. Hive is on one side of our territory, we could concentrate defenses. Lal might attack from both sides, at least his planes would come and damage our non-combats and terrain improvements. Should we build some more interceptors and SAM units?

Should we build some more interceptors and SAM units?

We shall. Beginning next turn with Morgan Biochemical.

These days, I put the effort on children creches to get the most of the Ascetic Virtues but immediately after it shall be back to aerospace complexes then F8s.

We shall surpass 200EC/year next turn and pop growth will give us even more: civilian infrastructure can wait, except for newly founded bases. If we want more hybrid forests after those already started, they'll have to be rushed in 1 turn.

I noticed than Lal is building drop troops. I can't remember the AI using them but we won't take chances: aero-complexes first.

When leaving a base empty in range and when in vendetta, AI would surely take the opportunity.

Notes:

- We have extracted Pre-sentient Algorithms from Gaian network; the probe is back in our territory (must get some medal!)

- the AA has been linked and we got Bio-engineering. I'll put the Longevity vaccine in Morgan Industries after the current build: under FM, it gives +50% economy at the base.

- Lal came talking seething. He demanded that we join him in his vendetta against Yang, I declined. Then he asked for Synthetic Fossil Fuel; to keep cordial relations, I gave it for 50EC. (He has already chaos fusion planes, it's not like this tech will change much). He finished with "Our friendship is a strong one... My hat is off to you for democracy...and so on"
