2151-start

- the very green Trance Scout performed admirably. He resisted the mind-worm and upgraded to green. Former is safe. :b:

- we have surpassed the Spartans on the powergraph.

- I have returned all workers and crawlers to normal industrial activity and allocation to 40/20/40. You can now look at relevant data.

- Take note that Strategic Forces would like to use 20EC this turn and 40 in 3 turns for upgrading strategic units!

- Morgan Solarfex can have either 14 minerals and 12 ecodamages or 13 and 6. Depends on one crawler. Your choice?

Thanks, Buncle!

I'll take opportunity to update those maps with our sensor-watched zones (blue) and with the tiles I envision as future base positions (black): they are 8. I think that with 18 bases we can make the game what we want.

Now, when Morgan Biochemical finish its one, we'll have a sufficient fleet of land formers. We might use a few sea ones though.

Looking at the envisioned base tiles, I'm thinking that the Planetary Transit System wouldn't probably be much help. Those 3 guys will starve to 1 surrounded by all those rocks and fungus.

Your ideas?

Lal would sell UN Aid station for 421 EC.

----------

And directions for Trevino enterprises formers. Three main tasks:

- farm (no solar yet, I changed my mind, let's wait until we decide on echelon mirror scheme) between Metallurgy and Biochemical

- rebuild road

- forest near M. Mines.

2151-pre-end (units moved)

- Scout 2 upgraded to empath-trance for 20EC

- Scouts 3 garrisons Morgan Shipbuilding

- Scout 4 protects former

- Rover moved E (towards monolith for repair)

- Bodi-chopper heals

- Mining Laser protects former

- Research: Intellectual Integrity (6/11)

- Economy: 272 (+59)

- Energy allocation: 40/20/40

Bases:

- Morgan Shipbuilding: 2-8-13 / Crawler (4; 2 to ten) (3 turns to pop 3)

- Morgan Construction: 3-7-18 / Crawler (0; 0 to ten) (2 turns to pop 4)

- Morgan Industries: 1-5-25 / Crawler (5; 2 to ten) (28 turns to pop 5)

- Morgan Mines: 2-2-22 / Crawler (9; 1 to ten) (14 to pop 4)

- Morgan Metallurgy: 1-4-22 / Crawler (6; 2 to ten) (13 to pop 3)

- Morgan Biochemical: 1-4-14 / Former (3; 1 to ten) (21 to pop 3)

- Morgan Transport: 1-6-23 / Crawler (3; 0 to ten) (34 to pop 5)

- Morgan Solarfex: 3-13-18 / Trance Supply (5; 0 to ten) (4 to pop 4)

- Morgan Interstellar: 1-2-16 / Crawler (6; 0 to ten) (30 to pop 4)

- Morgan Energy Monopoly: 3-4-12 / Colony Pod (4; 0 to ten) (2 to pop 3)

Notes:

- Crawler rushed for 22EC in Morgan Construction. This base will be a real industrial powerhouse.

- do we want to provoke the first fungus-'pop' now in Morgan Solarfex or do we wait a little and do it in Morgan Construction later, a base with very little fungus and terraforming around? (My preference for the second solution)

- IMO, possible rushings are either too expensive or not optimally timed with other events. Better keep the money till next turn.

My vote for fungal 'pop' would go to M. Construction too

Nothing else? Then here is:

2152-start

- HELL! Even only 6 ecodamages were enough to provoke a fungal pop in M-Solarfex. Murphy's Law! And direct on our best mine!! Probably the price for running FM.

- Our forests still don't want to auto-replicate...

Thank you but I don't do that much.

2153-start

- Governor Mart: orders for your new former in Morgan Biochemical? (Forest on moist tile? Mine on rocky tile? Sensor on energy resource tile? Defunging the rainy tile for future farm+condensor?)

- I launch the Neural Amplifier. There's a lack of usable tiles in the vicinity; do I cash the first crawler or do we change the 'upgrade-crawler-before' policy?

I'm thinking about a borehole somewhere. And that rocky tile near M. Biochemical looks good for that. Maybe road first, so other arriving formers will not loose a turn.

- I launch the Neural Amplifier. There's a lack of usable tiles in the vicinity; do I cash the first crawler or do we change the 'upgrade-crawler-before' policy?

I have no definite opinion here. How about we wait one more turn, and crawler from 20,56 moves one tile closer, 19,55 maybe?

I have good news from diplomacy probing. In short:

- we got 5 more techs, among them such good like Intellectual Integrity, that unblocked our tech trade, and Ecological Engineering, which lifted our mineral restrictions.

- I had to buy 2 technologies for 100 EC each, but as for me, I would go for it.

- I was able also to get Deirdre to sign Pact again!!! We got +62 EC/turn income, and some more research too.

- We were offered like 9 (or even 11) new techs to choose from in F2 screen. New tech ready in 4 turns. Yang will have Air Power next turn, and for economic reasons, I would go for Environmental Economics then and have energy restrictions lifted in 4 turns! There were other good choices too, and I could list them if we do the plan till that point. this change could even wait till 2154, but we would be forced to choose a tech in the turn processing.

- Also, is it worth trying asking Yang to sign truce with Miriam?

Any oppinions?

Opinions:

Ok, let's get these techs!

Eco-engineering will be a blessing.

Also ok for Enviro-economics as next research.

As for Yang, if he gets Air Power, better for us that he's busy using it against Miriam.

The rationale for not upgrading crawlers was to be 'fair' against the AIs but:

- we play at Transcend. We have already a 20% malus

- the AIs have proven that, beginning with 4 bases, they don't need any fairness to grab SPs.

- the prospect of Yang getting Air Power is...frightful.

Question to Mart:

- since the new former will work a borehole, should I queue another former in Morgan Biochemical then?

Good idea to get another former in M Biochemical. :b:

As our faction will soon grow, it may be, that AI will be in more disadvantage. That we cannot get all SP, makes us like playing with several more human players. AI is just too "stupid" through all the game. We could get a third opinion, anyone?

Link to post

That's 2 to 1 since Kataphraktoï thinks like you.

Ok.

Eco-engineering should allow us to get crawlers much faster.

As for the AI 'too stupid'...

This week, I played some SMAC games with map huge/sea 70-90%/weak erosion/little clouds/Transcend/tech stagnation. I thought it would be some interesting "War in the Pacific" feeling.

More often than not, playing Morgan, I just got wiped off the map! And that was while grabbing most of the SPs :scared:

Last game, I chose Zakharov; I thought it would be a walk in the park (running up the tech tree and terraforming those islands). Jeeez, was I wrong: I went from 7 bases to 3 and they were under siege by GAIAN impact squads (like 3 attacks/turn/base), and those bloody probes. The only thing that probably saved me was they didn't have artillery, otherwise it would have been game over. But I could barely whithstand (I had Command Nexus fortunately) then counter-attacked with probes first then with 4-2-1 when they somewhat relievd pressure. And I was lucky Spartans didn't attack my back (they had already took one of my bases)

Mind you, the AIs also know how to rush SPs.

I don't know whether they pay or they cash crawlers but they do. More than once, I spied on them and thought "Ah, still 10 turns for them to get XXX, I'll get it in 6 turns". So I proceed with the game and...it got it before me!

The AIs are not as stupid as we would want them to be.:D

...

I should be doing diplomacy this evening, I'm quite busy till then.

Another thing is that we have recently very low activity. I guess several months of play got people tired/bored. Any ideas to attract few more people?

Take your time!

I end turns usually on monday/wednesday/friday night as agreed except when there are much discussion and decisions.

Usually, I move units the day before.

As for participation, we can't do much more.

Dolgo has RL matters. Most others probably go on holidays and even PBEMs have been stalled for weeks.

If all those who announced themselves don't want to come and at least comment what is going on, it's not our fault.

A quick question, asking for your opinion.

I'm talking with Lal, and he just received 200 EC from us for 2 technologies. He gave us a loan in 2130, 34 EC for payments of 47 EC (1/year). This year 2153 it shows, that we have balance with Lal 30 EC.

We could return these 30 EC to Lal now and then attempt to get a loan of estimate 100-130 EC. This would decrease benefits of previous loan of 34 EC, but now we potentially would have more EC for investments.

MY 2153 after diplomacy.

Many new events:

- 5 new technologies

- new loan from Yang, 56 EC

- pact again with Lady Deirdre

- new maps from Yang and Deirdre

Morgan Construction has now 8 ecodamage. We have mineral restrictions lifted.

energy restrictions lifted in 4 turns, when Environmental Economics is researched.

Since Lal sold us Intellectual Integrity, we might consider Citizens' defense Force SP.

Opinion:

I don't really know about loans. There's not much to invest into these days that would need more than our 60EC/turn. As for myself, I let you decide about it if you have your idea about what to do with it.

2153-pre-end3 (units moved)

- Scout 2 protects former

- Scouts 3 garrisons Morgan Shipbuilding

- Research: Environmental Economics (4/10)

- Economy: 129 (+62)

- Morgan Solarfex: 4-8-19 / Trance Supply (5; 0 to ten) (2 to pop 4)

- Morgan Interstellar: 1-2-18 / Crawler (4; 0 to ten) (28 to pop 4)

- Morgan Energy Monopoly: 1-8-13 / Colony Pod (1; 0 to ten) (29 to pop 4)

Notes:

- Strategic Forces took responsibility to upgrade 4 scouts to 1e-1t-1 for a total of 80EC. Next turn we shall upgrade the rover for 40EC and we'll be ready. With coming eco-damages, it's a necessity.

- i never had lust to delve into the arcanes of eco-damages but if I'm not mistaken each fungus pop raise the clean mineral limit by 1 and same with every future tree farm. Do we let Morgan Construction at 8 ecodamages, taking the risk, then build a tree farm when we get Enviro-economics? we could even use this base as a popping/hunting cash cow later if we bring the Chopper and the rover in the vicinity; I have just upgraded the scout to empath too. BRING THEM ON, I say! :D

As usual, waiting for ideas/proposals for rushing things before turn end.

Hurrying crawlers or any other building thing is good investment. We will soon have expenses, e.g. getting hab complexes in all bases, etc.

Notes:

- Morgan Mines crawler rushed for 37EC. It shall take 2 minerals from the new forest next turn.

2154-start

- The peacekeeper secret project "The Merchant Exchange" is nearing a major breakthrough

- A mindworm destroyed one of Morgan Construction crawlers. I thought a mind worm couldn't appear (in a sensor-watched zone) and attack in the same turn?!? That was my rationale for putting up a good network of sensors. I also thought to have read that mindworms can't appear on a tile adjacent to a sensor so what, urban legends?

- Colony pod finished in Morgan Energy Monopoly, shall be sent to 34,62 according to plan

- Former finished farm near Morgan Biochemical. Next order?

- Mart: the former near Morgan Biochemical? Going to help its brother would loose a turn (road will be built next turn) so I propose either a sensor on the energy resource or a forest on the adjacent tile moist tile before he comes to help on borehole. (and another former will probably be ready in two turns too)

As usual, waiting for ideas/proposals for rushing things before turn end (I shall rush a few crawlers).

The 2 formers near Biochemical:

- the one on rocky tile - start road and after that start borehole

- the one on farm, go 1 tile SE and make road then forest.

We could trade Field Modulation from Lal (3r armor) for Ecological Eng. or synth. Fossil Fuels.

Not sure what to think about that?

Lal will not sign pact...
