Whaddaya bench?

118 posts in this topic

I bench-pressed 2,646 pounds yesterday - that's 126 lbs, 21 times, of course.

On my last weight cycle, it's now clear that I lingered too long at trying to get past 25 reps. Since I went up in weight 16 pounds and back to 10 reps, still increasing a repetition each session, the incremental increase has gone much more smoothly and has incurred less advance dread at the higher reps. I'm definitely seeing an increase in stamina this cycle.

I've adjusted well to my sister's hand-me-down weights, but one thing I don't like about this antique set-up I'm working with is that there's no way to fit enough weight on the bar to occasionally test my max... There's a psychological benefit to being able to track that number that I miss.

I don't bench. Dangerous and silly. If I am to excercise, I'd rather do something on a treadmill or "training bike"(or whatever it's called in barbarian).

In barbarian, that's a "stationary bike" or "sissy girl-stuff".

I can take you at arm wrestling, I betcha, youngster...

Rather that than risk dying under a pole.;)

Keep your pole away from me, you degenerate Finn...

Or:

I've no desire to travel that far north.

Or:

I've never dated a Polish girl.

Beer's not all that good at math.

Neither are you, after a quart, I bet.

Depends if you get everything you want or not I guess.

Up to 22 reps; smooth sailing.

-Hey Jokemonkey, you going to say something or just sit there?

When I used to bench regularly I observed the weight I could bench going up continuously. Now I haven't benched in a long time so I haven't made regular observations but by now, after these decades, at the previously observed rate of gain it must be up to several thousand pounds.

Well... I have set in the basement. Old, but very good set. Professional quality. If you want it, you just have to get it - Detroit area.

23 reps before lunch; keeping up the bent-over rows on the odd days, too.

I put on a new tank top top work out in and was struck by how much better my shoulders look than in February. :1st:

Don't know what I can bench, but I just moved a 32 inch olde style television and that thing weighs almost as much as me.

yeah, or what I'm calling 1 GSU (gamera standard unit)

... I am out of shape, but the new apartment has a 3rd bedroom and the inlaws are giving us a bowflex (?) so apparently my wife tells me that I'll be ripped in no time.

Keep your routine simple & short, aways be pushing for incremental increase, stay at it, and it will - if the Bowflex doesn't turn you gay.

I was a little tired or something today. 24 reps was more of a challenge than I've been trending...

I never could get those 6-pack abs no matter how many 6-packs I consumed. :dunno:
