We have 2127 at the time of this post.

A thought about our faction: maybe we should role-play the main company: Morgan Industries Corporation in more detail than now. We would have our other companies, but the main business undertaking would be much more fleshed out. Any thoughts on this?

I'd like more role-playing and creative stuff, sir; but I'm just the janitor...

Maybe we could define The Corporation in the same or even more in detail, than our present four companies. Let's say, the CEO remains still NPC (non-player character) but we have some kind of an acting-CEO, if I can call this function, maybe Financial Director, who would make decisions in that area. Then some other roles would be covering other activities. So the Financial Director (FD) would make decisions, like e.g. there is not enough EC to rush everything in a given turn, so FD makes a decision based on the best interest of The Corporation, he would make or approve some general direction of The Corp. actions in the financial area, buying or selling assets, loans, those to other factions too and to our "secondary" companies.

This would be in addition to our present companies, that would be subsidiary-like to The Corporation. We, as governors would have freedom in many decisions, but overall, the interests of The Corporation would take precedence. We still would have to work on some details.

And I would count more assets belonging to The Corporation rather than split them in four like now. E.g. we took loan from Gaians, but maybe not all governors would approve it because of their bad financial state. E.g. Morgan Interstellar being on negative might not like it, especially when later we just decide to spend a lot of EC for techs. this would solve issues, when we have to buy or sell something that is not easily splittable in 4 or has to belong to all. Ownership/assets of our companies could be of items/stuff that can be easily assigned to a specific company.

I'm thinking also about actual currency, let's call it role-play energy credits (RPEC). It would be: 1 RPEC = 1 EC. RPEC could be exchanged into EC for hurrying, but only when they are available. So we would keep track of RPEC.

Mart's idea is a decent one.

EDIT: IMO

My view is that Mart's proposal is a step towards centralization, of which I disapprove.

With respect to handling the faction's energy reserves, I would personally want to move towards a system where the XO is aware of each company's reserves and conducts rushes only if the cost doesn't exceed the available reserves. (In short, no more negative balances)

This system is pretty much complete, it just needs the cooperation and willingness on behalf of the XO to simply monitor the financial updates at the start of the turn.

What we are lacking is a mechanism by which the Corporation's Energy Assets are loaned to one of the four companies. I think it would be interesting to hand the corporation over to those players, who so far have no role in this DEM game. Allow them to form a board of directors. They can then debate and decide among themselves which companies to invest in with the assets available to them and what interest rates to charge, etc.

Greed should be central motivation, forget world domination schemes, forget the pursuit of a collective well-being. We are here to protect and grow our investments. Let your greed show you the way.

So we could have more fleshed out the main Morgan Industries Corporation. right now there is no one playing it, the FD would make it exist with at least one active player, and with more players wanting to be in The Corporation, there would be such board of directors.

That's right! Players wanted to run the mighty Morgan Industries Corporation! Don't miss this opportunity.

The tools at your disposal will be

-Massive Energy Assets (in actual reserves and loans to other companies)

-A number of Independent Units, excellent sources of revenue so far in this game, from worm killing to vulnerable unit-escort missions.

Negotiate future loans, invest into companies, adjust interest rates to reflect the risks your capital will take on as it goes to work for you and realizes the ambitions of your borrowers.

Don't know how it all works? Don't be afraid to ask

When it comes to making decisions on Energy Allocations. Assume that each of the four major player-controlled companies started out with an equal number of votes. These votes are kind of similar to shares, they should be regarded as assets and not something tied to the company's profits.

Energy Allocation Influence Table

No code has to be inserted here.

The influence of the companies does not change in relation to their earnings. But a company may choose to sell a portion of its votes to another. Thereby reducing their influence in future decisions on energy allocation for a short-term cash grab.

So, anyone willing to take a position in Morgan Industries Corporation?

Should we open a thread with advertised position? Personal request of CEO Morgan?

We have at the moment (MY 2157) very low activity of players.

since governorship is practically inactive and the XO runs most of the bases (Trevino Enterprises throws an occasional order or comment) I would suggest to go more officialy into mode of play with one company. E.g. Morgan Industries Corporation takes control over existing 4 companies (sub-companies) until further change.

This would allow to create some specific departments in the corporation that would not need to worry about "what would governor ... say?"

Later we could change that.

I'd say that I need you to keep charge in diplomacy.

It would be fine to get a terraformation planner, going base by base to determine what to build to be the most efficient. We are already building a borehole and a condensor.

I agree! Time for us to focus on improving efficiency and drawing up grand scale plans for winning this game.
