Posted March 5, 2010 We'll have enough units I think all of them will work at some point. Bacab might be nice, since we can do four Bacabs for the first four workers. Share this post Link to post
Posted March 21, 2010 So, Mictlan is from the Aztec mythology that [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grim_Fandango]Grim Fandango[/ame] cribbed. Expect me to push for that one at some point. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 11, 2010 I don't know much about the Mayan culture at least as far as names go. Given my avatar I'm tempted to suggest some Lovecraftian names, but I did note the post about keeping the names simple (so no Cthulhu or Nyarlathotep!). So here's a couple: Herbert West Asenath Waite Obed Marsh Randolph Carter Share this post Link to post
Posted May 14, 2010 Bringing the discussion from Turn 105 over here about Animal Farm and what to rename it, if anything. As a way of honoring/referencing the Swine's old name for the city while bringing it in line with our death/afterlife theme, I'd propose Sugarcandy Mountain, an afterlife one of the characters in the book referred to. However, I can see the argument for just leaving the name alone. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 15, 2010 I think it should be left as it is. They thought that it's a good name and thus best respect for them is to keep it. Also, IRL it is not that common to rename cities after conquest, I think. At least in modern times. Share this post Link to post

Posted May 15, 2010 Helsingfors ---> Helsinki (now that is close to home) Not to mention a few different nicknames, should I go on? void argument Both Helsingfors and Helsinki are correct names. Finland is a bi-lingual country. And about St.Petersburg -> Leningrad and back I was talking about name change after conquest, not revolution. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 15, 2010 void argument Both Helsingfors and Helsinki are correct names. Finland is a bi-lingual country. And about St.Petersburg -> Leningrad and back I was talking about name change after conquest, not revolution. How is revolution that different than conquest? Government changes, name changes. Ok Danzig and Gdansk to make up for Helsingfors although its pretty much the same thing, government changes, name changes. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 15, 2010 Aye, exceptions can be found. But i.e. the germans didn't change Paris into Führerville. Well, no more off-topic. I just think the name should stay as it is. :) Share this post Link to post
Posted May 15, 2010 I'm fine either way. If it stays fine, if it gets renamed that's fine too. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 15, 2010 You only found one example I found several The name is changing, in Civ, Ive seen the name change a lot more than it staying the same. And its our conquest. But I am going to be respectful about it. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 15, 2010 Hey we'll have a chariot ready next turn, it's Provi's turn for naming. After that Zargon gets a non-catapult unit, then amarriner. I think the spy will be the next non-cat unit, then we'll have an archer or two coming up. Share this post Link to post

Posted May 15, 2010 I'm officially for Sugar Candy Mountain. Fits our name system, honors the pigs, sets a precedence. (Vikings happen have a lot of names that happen to fit a similar theme...Niflheim, Vanaheim, Jotunheim, etc...as well as the whole Asgard, Midgard, Valhalla, etc....) Share this post Link to post
Posted May 16, 2010 Hey we'll have a chariot ready next turn, it's Provi's turn for naming. Well... Because it is a chariot, it shall be named as 'Merkabah' to deal some divine punishment. Our enemies will be afraid, very afraid. [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merkabah[/ame] Share this post Link to post
Posted May 28, 2010 I must have missed it somewhere, but how did we come up with the name of Sugar Candy Mountain??? Share this post Link to post
Posted May 28, 2010 Thanks Klo. And wow, that's obscure. But it does fit nicely with the Animal Farm theme. :b: Thx again. Share this post Link to post
