Hannibal. Caesar. These great men and dozens like them shaped the destiny of a continent. Mighty kings, clever generals and would-be gods made their mark on the ancient Mediterranean. Around this sea, close-knit nations tested their mettle and virtue against each other in fierce combat, their cultural and political legacy now inseparable from what we understand as Western Civilization. But nothing was guaranteed. Can you change the course of history in Imperator: Rome? Main Features Character Management: A living world of characters with varying skills and traits that will change over time. They will lead your nation, govern your provinces and command your armies and fleets. We also introduce our new, more human-like character art. Diverse Populations: Citizens, freemen, tribesmen and slaves - each population with its own culture and religion. Whether they fill your armies, fill your coffers or fill your colonies, keep an eye on their happiness - your success depends on their satisfaction. Battle Tactics: Choose your approach before battle to counter the stratagems of your foes. Military Traditions: Each culture has a unique way of waging war. Romans and Celts have different options available to them. Unlock unique bonuses, abilities and units. Different Government Types: Manage the senate in a Republic, hold your court together in a monarchy, answer to the clans in a tribal system. Barbarians and Rebellions: Migrating barbarians may sack or settle your best land, while disloyal governors or generals can turn against you - taking their armies with them! Trade: Goods provide bonuses to their home province. Will you take advantage of stockpiles for local strength or trade excess goods to spread the wealth around? Provincial Improvement: Invest in buildings, roads and defences to make your kingdom stronger and richer.
  2. Great People are earned by accumulating Great Person Points that relate to that type of Great Person. Once you have the necessary points to Recruit the Great Person you desire, you spend those Great Person Points and the Great Person in question immediately spawns in your Capital. The cost of recruiting a Great Person is dependent on the era the Great Person is associated with: Classical: 40 Great Person Points (Quick speed), 60 Great Person Points (Standard speed) Medieval: 80 Great Person Points (Quick speed), 120 Great Person Points (Standard speed) Rennaissance: 160 Great Person Points (Quick speed), 240 Great Person Points (Standard speed) Industrial: 280 Great Person Points (Quick speed), 420 Great Person Points (Standard speed) If you do not wish to recruit a particular Great Person, and would like to save your Great Person Points for a future opportunity, you can choose to Pass. Passing costs 8 Great Person Points (? 20% ?) and cannot be undone. The points spent on Passing will apply as a discount to the Great Person, allowing other players to Recruit it for less points. You can Recruit with Patronage by spending Gold or Faith and your current Great Person Points to immediately earn Great People. The amount of Gold or Faith needed is based on the difference between the number of Great Person Points you have and the Great Person Points needed to recruit the Great Person normally. You cannot perform this action if you, or another player, already has enough points to recruit the Great Person, or if you have previously passed over the Great Person. Every Great Person has a unique ability, that consumes the Great Person when it is activated. Great Admirals and Great Generals also have a passive ability, that is in permanent effect, until they activate their active ability and are consumed.

  11. So, Civ 6 comes out in 10 weeks or so. Who's up for one last visit to the bar? Last orders gents! In: Penry Rhoth Unorthodox Viking Bantams Maybe: Out: E_T Nikolai The conversation so far:
  12. Gents, with new game setup threads rapidly being demoted down the page in this forum, due to the high frequency that the PBEM turn tracking threads are being posted in, can we please keep all discussions about new games or players wanted for games in this thread, or at least post a link in this thread to the discussion thread concerned. I completely missed the Newb Bashing Fun setup thread in amongst all the PBEM turn trackers and I'm willing to bet others did too...... I'll add this thread to the main CivIV forum directory so any newcomers to WPC who are interested in some MP action will quickly and easily be able to find like minded players.... Cheers!
  13. Thanks for the heads up. As you no doubt remember, I'm a fan of magic weak fantasy, so Scarcity sounds right up my alley. I'll look into alchemy too; is there any sort of herbalism in Skyrim, I'm thinking Aragorn and his Kingsfoil type scenario?
  14. OMG, all those mods! I'll have a look through when I get back from vacation in three weeks. Thanks.
  15. If you could list the mods you've used, that would be awesome. Winter is coming to NZ and I'm feeling the itch to immerse myself in something to pass the long cold nights. Thinking about giving Skyrim another try, but I'm not particularly interested in the high fantasy storyline, rather the life of a journeyman making his way in the world.
  16. I always like an AAR set on the homeland! Looking forward to further updates.
  17. Off to Japan for three weeks next weekend so will have a closer look when I get back. That should give time for everyone to have a good play of the game and get some post hype feedback.
  18. No, the last one I watched was The History Lesson with the devs. Terrible presentation!
  19. Yeah, a bit of a combo of too much information and trying to enjoy the last of the Kiwi summer! Looking forward to some third party YouTube reviews to see what they make of the game. The in house videos just don't do anything for me. They really could do with hiring a presenter with more enthusiasm!
  20. I'd be interested in some WW2 action BD. Give me a couple of weeks to get my crap sorted and I should be ready to go!
  21. Beat me to it again!
