  1. This year joins the club of being one of the hottest on record globally, and in Australia it has been the single hottest on record. Right or wrong on the overall trend, your prediction is wrong.
  2. That was quick.
  3. I had a job interview for Holden's Dandenong plant a year or two ago, and it was clear from the physical and practical parts of the interview that they didn't expect me to sit on my arse all day. I'd say there is more to it than you think.
  4. 55K, that sounds more reasonable for a job with manual labour.
  5. Remember to cut it by a third to take into account differences in currency and cost of living, then scale further for inflation if comparing to jobs several years ago. $120K is still about double median wage however, and more than triple minimum (full time) wage. EDIT: I'm not so sure about the number however. I highly doubt anyone short of lower management would get that much money, and possibly no one short of middle management, even.
  6. Yeah, must be the union's fault. Couldn't be anything to do with Abbott deciding to not do what every other car manufacturing country in the developed world does, by stopping subsidies.
  7. Not sure about where you are, but here it is illegal to fire someone for seeking unionism.
  8. Sounds to me like just another possible point of failure. One that would be difficult to repair than wipers as well.
  9. I'd say aim for C, but tolerate B if it comes to it.
  10. It doesn't feel like all that long ago to me either, but I was just five years old at the time.
  11. I think the point is to make the young amongst us feel old (such as me).
  12. I haven't heard the term before. I refer to cordial without extra water as 'straight' cordial.
  13. I consider Ribena to be a type of cordial, yes. Most cordials are more watery however, with straight Ribena having a slightly syrupy consistency. I looked up the most popular cordial brand (Cottee's), and I didn't see any E numbers. Their 'fruit cup' flavour has these ingredients: The laws on stating E numbers likely differ slightly between Australia and the UK, so some of these ingredients might also have an associated E number.
  14. Cordial is a flavoured concentrate somewhat similar to Koolaid. The differences being that cordial is always liquid (I think Koolaid generally comes as a powder?), and cordial is just a word rather than a brand name. Flavours are generally fruity, but only some brands use actual fruit juice. "Neat" was probably just a typo for "next".
  15. From my limited experience, something like that would be best served by a web app. Web apps conform to html and related standards and you can be comfortable knowing that what works today will work tomorrow. Native apps are beholden to the hardware, which is especially affecting when working with Android thanks to the wide variety of hardware you must account for.
  16. Yeah, a few people have been having trouble with attachments. Not sure why.
  17. They're stored right here at WPC. They're attachments.
  18. Yeah, I'm not going to dispute that.
  19. If you were talking Celsius, you'd be right, but in Fahrenheit you're wrong.
  20. Resonant frequencies. That speed must have made something vibrate just right.
  21. That's a pretty standard commute for public transport users in Melbourne's middle and outer suburbs, depending on how far they are from a train station and how they get to said station.
  22. In the first post Dale uses two images: http://wattsupwiththat.files.wordpress.com/2013/11/latest_512_45001.jpg http://iswa.gsfc.nasa.gov/IswaSystemWebApp/iSWACygnetStreamer?timestamp=2038-01-23%2000:44:00&window=-1&cygnetId=261 And in his latest post was this: http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/SolarCycle/sunspot.gif
  23. At ~50% more expensive than a Nexus 7, I think the Nexus 7 is the better choice. The Nexus 7 also has roughly the same very high pixels per inch in the screen (negating Apple's "Retina Display" as a selling point) and generally similar or better hardware than the Mini (mostly just better) (some of this is extrapolating specs from the original Mini due to a lack of data)
  24. I don't see any field, just a large backyard.
  25. There's a good chunk of genuinely free ones too. Not sure either way about the quality however.
