    First of all, a big Thank you! for all the work Dale has done so far. :bb:

    As for suggestions for Colonization, how about a real Colonization II mostly with just updated graphics and fixes for some of the problems (e.g. pathing & trade routes) of the original game? Of course the custom house, Fountain of Youth, and other features would remain. Whether they are considered "exploits" or not--they made the game a lot more fun.

    Just on the FoY, I think the fairest method would be thus:

    * On discovery colonists randomly appear on the docks of ALL nations.
    * Civ that discovered FoY gets double chance of a colonist appearing on the docks.

    The FoY I could live without, it's just the custom house that I think is missing the most. I know we're getting one with 1.10, but I'd suggest to make sure it functions as closely as possible to the original one. A large economy / group of colonies just becomes to time consuming to manage without one. Key features:

    - Can trade in boycotted goods
    - King gets no tax revenue from trading
    - Can specify over what limit 100% of goods are sold (ie sell everything over 100 tonnes)

    I'm still amazed that the vanilla C4C excluded the custom house. I can't understand the logic behind it... any argument I've heard against it can easily be solved by other means. The fact is, it makes larger games more playable, and it feels really good when you get to the point that you can stick it to the King

    Further to my last comment on the customs house, i think the sales prices should be around 60% of europe prices... this means the 40% tax rate is about where it would be neutral selling via custom house vs sailing to europe. Or maybe this is something that should be scalable by difficulty level, ie 75% of europe prices in an easy level, 40% in Patriot, etc.
