    The Winter Patch/Day 60 Patch for
    Sid Meier's Civilization VI
    has arrived!

    • Added “Alert” action for units

      • Put a unit to sleep until they spot an enemy unit

      • Jump into Scenarios more easily within the Single Player menu. This only shows up when a single player scenario is available and enabled (as can be found in both of the new DLCs!)

    • Religious units may now Fortify Until Healed
    • Coastal Raids can now pillage districts in addition to the buildings within
    • Great Admirals are no longer allowed to spawn on wonders in water tiles (ex. Huey, Great Lighthouse) so they cannot become stranded in lakes

    • Cities can no longer receive yields from more than one regional building per type; they take the highest (ex. production from multiple Factories)
    • Cities can no longer receive amenities from more than one regional building per type; they take the highest (ex. amenities from multiple Stadiums)
    • Decreased production costs of Wonders progressively

      • From the Industrial era (about -10%) to the Atomic era (about -40%).


    • Decreased production costs of all Space Race Projects by 40%.

    Jadwiga rules Poland in Sid Meier's Civilization VI! Religious and expansionist, Poland can gain control of other civ's tiles when they fortify their borders, and Jadwiga makes Relics more valuable and Holy Sites more effective. A new scenario is also included: stand at the crossroads of Europe protecting the fertile Polish homelands from those who would seize it to empower themselves. Can you stand as a bulwark against this threat?

    Includes the complete Polish civilization with Jadwiga, Winged Hussar unique Unit, and Sukiennice unique Building:

    • Poland’s “Golden Liberty” unique ability allows them to gain territory when they build a Fort or Encampment, even allowing them to steal territory from other civs! They also convert a Military Policy slot into a Wildcard slot, giving them extra flexibility in culture.
    • Jadwiga allows you to spread your religion to the nearby city when you gain another civ’s territory with Golden Liberty. Her relics provide bonus Faith, Culture, and Gold.
    • The famous Winged Hussar is strong on the attack and can push back defending units.
    • The Sukiennice, or Cloth Hall, gives bonus Production from foreign Trade Routes, and Gold from internal Trade Routes.



    Play as a great Polish noble lord in the “Jadwiga's Legacy” Scenario:

    • 60 Turn limit.
    • Defend Poland, Prague, and Vienna from invaders including the Teutonic Knights and Ottoman Turks.
    • Gain glory in battle and prove yourself the greatest defender of Poland.





    And the Vikings DLC is described thus:

    Bring Europe under your rule as the mightiest Viking lord in the most detailed scenario released yet for Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. The Viking Scenario Pack also includes three new Natural Wonders and six new City-States, two of which grant new tile improvements.

    A new update is available for Sid Meier’s Civilization VI today. The “Fall 2016 Update” will automatically install when starting the Steam client; if it doesn’t install automatically, please restart Steam.

    This update adds DirectX 12 support to Civilization VI, starting with AMD cards and NVIDIA Maxwell-series-or-later cards - please make sure your drivers are up to date. Support has also been added for Logitech ARX. For more information on each of these, please click their respective link.

    Today you’re also able to play a whole new multiplayer scenario called “Cavalry and Cannonades,” and settle on two new map types, “Four-Leaf Clover” and “Six-Armed Snowflake.” These maps are playable both online and off, and were designed to encourage more conflict by forcing players to move toward the center. For the full list of what’s in this latest update, please see below.

    I'd like to present our second Parallel Universe Game. This will take longer than the previous one, being a full game scenario. We are going to recreate Mother Russia in all her glory! I have created exactly the same game on Prince, King and Emperor difficulty level. The seed is the same for all three. Those that would like life a little easier can select Prince level, those want want more of a challenge can select Emperor etc. You could even play your first run through on Prince, then up the difficulty on your next save....

    OK folks, here is the first Parallel Universe Game. It is a Lite varient, which means it isn't a full game scenario, but something shorter for a more focused game. I have tried a little spin on things too. Instead of just having the option to play on Prince level I have created exactly the same game on Prince, King and Emperor difficulty level. The map is the same, the AI are the same, the city states are the same. Those that would like life a little easier can select Prince level, those want want more of a challenge can select Emperor etc. You could then play your first run through on Prince, then up the difficulty on your next save....

    PRDG - Pre-Release Democracy Game Poll #1

    Our own Donald23 has a copy of the Pre-Release 10 Civ SP version of Civilization 6. He has already posted a few videos on both his website and on YouTube..

    SO, we now need a poll.

    Do we want to play, up to (and maybe after) the initial release, a sort of Pseudo Demo Game. Donald will be our only turnplayer. The orders and discussions between his turnplay will also be limited, due to time constraints (20-30 min in game play, every other day until Oct 21... about 12 sessions total) and general reality.

    So, Poll is open for about 24 hours from the time of this posting...

    Today's First Look on Sid Meier's Civilization VI showcases Saladin of Arabia. This civ seems strong and has the following features:

    UA: "The last prophet": When the second-to-last Great Prophet is taken by another civ, Arabia automatically receive a great prophet, if they haven't already founded a religion.
    UU: Mamluk: Knight replacement. Heals automatically at the end of each turn, even if it has attacked.
    UB: Madrassa: University replacement that gives extra science AND extra faith based on the campus adjacency bonus.
    LUA: Righteousnes of the faith: Religious building (Pagoda, Synagogue, etc.) costs very little faith and provides bonus science, faith AND culture.

    A new week, a new first look on a civilization in Sid Meier's Civilization VI! This week we get to meet Sumeria, lead by Gilgamesh.



    The specifics of Sumeria are as follows:

    UA - Epic Quest: When you capture a barbarian outpost, you get a tribal village reward.


    UU - War Cart: No penalties to fighting Spearmen or other anti-cavalry units. Extra movement if starting on flat terrain. 30 strength.

    UI - Ziggurat: Grants science and, if adjacent to a river, culture. Cannot be built on a hill.


    LUA - Adventures with Enkidu: When at war with a common foe, they and their allies share pillage rewards and share combat experience gains with the closest allied unit within 5 tiles. No Warmonger penalty when you declare war on anyone at war with your allies.

    Rex Argentum - The 25th Anniversary of Civ competition

    To celebrate twenty five years of Civ and the imminent arrival of Civilization VI, WePlayCiv has decided to launch a competition dedicated to those glorious victories, humbling defeats and numerous other incidents over the years.

    The Competition

    We've all played a lot of Civ over the years, some of us are Single Players devotees, others like nothing better than pitting their wits against their forum buddies in a Multiplayer showdown. For others the height of Civ goodness comes from the titanic struggles between Civ forums and the meta game that ensues from such activities. Then there are Single Player Democracy Games, Succession Games, One City Challenges..... the joys of Civ go on and on.

    What we all share though are a head full of memories from over the years, be they a great military victory, a perfectly executed civil service slingshot, snatching a memorable victory from the jaws of certain defeat or even just sharing your love and knowledge of Civ with a newbie and watching them blossom into a rival Civ master!

    With the imminent release of Civ VI, I'm sure we are all hoping that we are about to set off on another series of journeys through the ages, whether it will be raiding foreign shores with Harald Hardrada's Viking Longships, churning up the dusty steppes underfoot with Tomyris and her Saka Horse Archers or developing a spy network beyond compare with Catherine de Medici and her Flying Squadron.

    Write about your favourite Civ memory from over the years and be in with a chance to win Steam software of your choice to the values listed in the rules below. It can be a memory of your favourite civilization, favourite leader, favourite strategy, favourite game moment, favourite forum event, whatever brings you most joy from all those hours in front of your computer, either in-game or on the forums.

    Nahtanoj II of Persia; 1000BC - 500BC

    After centuries of horrid slavery... the kind, gentle Persians longed for the good ol' days under Nahtanoj the 1st. They forgot just how poorly their expeditions into uncharted territory had fared at the time; as all they could think of was how desperately they wanted to stop feeling the lash of the whip on their backs and backsides, and escape the leering looks from Perxes I... or rather Perxes the Perv, as he would later be called in whispered tones.

    Today's First Look on upcoming Sid Meier's Civilization VI is on the civilization Rome, and their leader Trajan. Trajan's unique ability is that all cities start with one free building in the city center, while Rome's unique ability is that all cities start with a trading post, and new cities within trading range of the capital starts with a road leading to them. The unique unit of Rome is the Legion, which is a stronger and more expensive swordsman that can also build forts. Rome's unique infrastructure is the Baths, which replace the aquaduct and provides amenities and housing.

    The Reign of Perxes I - Turn 101 - 120 (1500BC to 1000BC)

    101-105: The God King Perxes ascended to the throne, noticing the very rouged buttocks of his populace and wondering what the hell his predecessor had been doing in his spare time. Perxes was also dismayed to see dried vomit in numerous locations around his throne - very Caligula, but hardly suitable for the throne room of one descended from the divine.

    The Reign of Rhothnius IV, 11th of his line - Turn 81 - 100 (2000bc to 1500bc)

    Rhothnius took a look at his realm on the first day of his reign and threw up a little in his mouth. There was unfortunately very little that Rhothnius could pick apart regarding his predecessor's reign, and that completely infuriated Rhothnius as he had been looking forward to throwing some shade.

    It was with heavy hearts that in 3000BC we announced our great leader Penrius I... has choked on a dish prepared no doubt by those inferious plotting Carthaginians! We mourned him long into the hour after his passing...and then promptly elected Nahtanoj -the 1st of his name- to take up Penrius's heavy mantle! And yeh, there was great rejoicing!! And much feasting!!

    What shenanigans will Nahtanoj get up to? Will he break the smilie/word ratio world record during his reign?
